UCA women in 4th

BEAUMONT, Texas — The University of Central Arkansas women’s golf team is in fourth place after the first round (Monday, March 12) of the Lamar Lady Cardinal Invitational being played at the Beaumont Country Club.

UCA shot a first-round 320 and trails host Lamar (302), Oklahoma City (314) and Sam Houston (317). Behind UCA is McNeese State (322), Louisiana-Monroe (326), Texas-San Antonio (328), Texas State (329), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (331) and McLennan Community College (340),

Individually, Rebecca Sorensen led UCA with a round of 41-38 — 79 and is tied for 13th place overall. Nicole Forshner shot 43-37 — 80 and is tied for 19th with teammate Sanna Vihervaara (41-39 — 80). Senior Christina Lecuyer, who has won her past two tournaments, shot 43-38 — 81 and is tied for 24th.

Jessica Ross shot 41-42 — 83 and is tied for 34th.

Lamar’s Hiliary Zeigler shot a one-over 72 and is the individual leader. Her teammate, Bonnie Howard is next at 74.
