UCA tennis falls to Lamar

BEAUMONT, Texas —The University of Central Arkansas fell to a short-handed Lamar women's tennis team by the score of 5-2 in Southland Conference play on Sunday. The Sugar Bears fall to 2-6 overall and 1-2 in the league while the Lady Cardinals improve to 6-5 and 2-0.
Lamar, playing with just four players, won both of the doubles matches that were played. Kaltrina Harbuzi and Manijee Ashrafi defeated junior Charissa Colclough and sophomore Rebecca McCullough 8-0 at number one and Maria Gutierrez and Manami Kuroda downed sophomores Rebecca Miller and Jenny Paine 8-5.
LU also swept all four of the singles matches played. UCA's two points came as a result of forfeits. The closest singles match was at number four singles, where Kuroda defeated sophomore Heidi Miller 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
UCA will take on Houston on Monday.
