Track team wins 2 events

JOPLIN, Mo. — The University of Central Arkansas indoor track team won two events at the Missouri Southern Fazoli's Baymont Inn Invitational on Saturday. Sophomore Eric Ware won the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.24 in the finals heat.
Freshman Donavan Loring, who placed fourth in he long jump on Friday night, won the triple jump competition with a leap of 14.88 meters.
Loring, a Little Rock native, also finished seventh in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.96 seconds. Ware also qualified for the finals of the 60 meter dash with a 7.08 time.
Freshman Thad Gordon came up with three top five finishes, placing second in the triple jump (14.74), fourth in the 200 meter dash (22.89) and fifth in the 400 meter dash (51.04). Freshman Raven Fuller, of Conway, took 10th place in the mile run with a time of 4:42.64.
The Sugar Bears' top finish came in the high jump, where sophomore Lori Garside placed sixth with a leap of 1.60 meters. Freshman Kayla Daniels took seventh in the triple jump at 10.62 meters.
Junior Whitney Welch finished seven the mile run with a 5:49.1 time. Sophomore Mallory Tate took eight in the 400 meter dash with a 1:02.69 time.
Both teams will return to Joplin on Friday for the MSSU Radio Shack Invitational.
