HOUSTON, Texas — The University of Central Arkansas team lost to Conference-USA member University of Houston 7-0 on Monday (March 12). The match had to be moved indoors due to rain in the Houston area. The Cougars improve to 10-5 on the year, while the Sugar Bears fall to 2-7.

UH swept through doubles competition with Loli Gomez and Leila Salek defeating sophomores Rebecca Miller and Jenny Paine 8-2 at the number one spot. Sonja Nikolic and Rebecca Franzi took the number two spot  by downing junior Charissa Colclough and sophomore Rebecca McCullough 8-2.

In singles, Gomez defeated freshman Petra Keilova 6-1, 6-2 at number one. The closest match of the day was in number six where Vicky Simpson won over McCullough 4-6, 6-2 (10-4)

UCA will return to Conway to host Southland Conference foe Nicholls State on Saturday, March 17.
