Softball drops 2 at Tennessee State

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee State swept the Univesity of Central Arkansas, 5-1 and 1-0, in a softball doubleheader Wednesday afternoon.
UCA fell to 6-10 while Tennessee State upped its record to 12-2.
The Tigers touched UCA freshman pitcher Jennifer Collins for six hits, four runs and a walk during the first two innings of the first game. The Bears scored in the top of the fourth when Sarah Garcia tripled and scored on an error.
Garcia went 2-for-3 for the BearsBears. Lyndsey Harris, Janae Owens, Billingsley and Chancey also recorded one hit each.
In the second game, Tiger pitcher Amanda Vaught held the Bears to one hit and one walk, while striking out 13. The contest was scoreless until the bottom of the sixth when Cruz tripled with two outs, driving in Candace Metzger.
Chancey managed UCA's lone hit of the game.
The Bears will play Austin Peay State in Clarksville, Tenn., in a doubleheader on Thursday.
