CONWAY — University of Central Arkansas defensive end Jacob Ford has been named an All-American by College Sports Report and was an all-region selection by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette.

Ford, a 6-5, 252-pound senior from Memphis, was named a Division I Championship Subdivision first-team All-American. He was also named to the Football Gazette Division I FCS first-team All-South Region team.

Ford led the Bears in tackles for loss with 15.5 for a minus 73 yards last season. He also had a team-high six sacks for minus 51 yards, forced three fumbles and recovered one. Ford had 32.5 tackles for loss in his two seasons at UCA, with 102 total tackles and 10 forced fumbles.

Ford, who had a key interception in the IntaJuice North-South All-Star Classic in January, worked out at the recent NFL Combine and turned in the second-fastest 40-yard dash time among defensive ends.

UCA senior middle linebacker Quentin Maxfield of Conway and senior safety Jasper Johnson of Pine Bluff were named to the Football Gazette third-team All-South Region squad.

“These awards are tremendous honors for these three young men," said UCA head coach Clint Conque, “as well as honors for our football program. These young men have been extraordinary representatives for this school over the past four years, as well as tremendous football players."

The Bears finished 8-3 and were ranked in the final Top 25 poll in just their first season in NCAA Division I.
